Hey Guys,

Well this morning I started the download for a game called Gary’s Mod (ill get into the basics later), but first off I had to install Steam again, as the previous attempts on my laptop failed, as I tried to play Counter Strike Source, and just kept crashing…beyond my control im afraid! But anyway, I installed steam thinking the worst, as my previous experience was pretty bad, but I

was shocked….

Steam installed pretty fast and works a treat! I made the payment for the game through Paypal which was speedy as always and as soon as the payment was finished the game began to download (no delays - apart from my slow connection). Another cool feature is that you can start and stop the game downloading as much as you want!

Anyway, once I was back from college, after leaving my PC on all day, it had downloaded and as soon as I sat down I opened it up, I was delighted that the updates for Gary’s Mod were included with the full game download, most games do not included that…such as World of Warcraft (I spent 3 - 4 hours updating WoW)…

Once I got onto the gameplay I was hooked, even single player is awesome - and thats playing on your own!

Basic Gameplay:
Well, the game is huge in its own way, theres noway to complete it, its just endless fun! Others probably can describe it better than me (Special K - member of the forums) but this is my explanation; you are given different tools, these range from anti-gravity guns, to shotguns and weird anything-gun (its pretty much completely programmable)! Also you get a huge libary of tools, which you can use any tool in any way you want, the tools you can use range from Tables to bath tubs to tanks! I installed Gary’s Mod without having any other games, and it comes with plenty of stuff! But if you own any other Steam games, then you get a selection of even more items (all items from games, like half-life 2 etc..).

Graphics and Sound:
The graphics are not bad, just standard for now really, I don’t think theres any point in comparing them to a proper game, as this is just made from a games engine, and the gameplay is so intense that graphics don’t matter for me! The sound affects on some items can get annoying, but you can easily turn off your speakers I s’pose….

Online play:
This is awesome, apart from when you get an annoying guy that wrecks/kills your things/you! Some servers allow god mode, which means you dont die, and just build build and build, but others dont allow god mode, so yeah you can die quite a lot! Its awesome when you just muck around creating heaps of junk. The best thing is to create hundreds of oil cans and just blow them up, I crashed a server once as I blew up so many!

I would give this game 9/10, the reason its not 10/10 is because the sound affects can get really annoying, I know this is a miner thing, but still for a game to get 10/10 has to be perfect
