Hey, well it seems that everyone has a weekly thing to do, well since today is Saturday; I think it is time for me to do a weekly post… Well, I tried a weekly code before but did one week and then something happened and it didn’t work out… so from now on I will post “The weekend tutorial”… The idea is that you ask a question, then i make the weekend tutorial based on your question, this week i will just make a cool one up :p….
This week, I’m going to tell you how to install Linux on a USB flash drive… unlike most USB Linux programs, it will not require you to reboot and then boot from the flash, it will actually run from a portable vpc (virtual pc).
First you will need to format your flash drive; you will need at least a gig of free spac:
Then make a folder on your flash drive called “QPU710”:
Download “qpu710.exe” from pendrivelinux.com (this page) and extract it to the QUP710 folder:
Download the 7.10 ubuntu iso file from ubuntu.com (this page):
Then save the iso file to your “QPU710” file on your flash drive:
6.) Click the “QPU710.bat” file.
7.) Follow the steps and install the file… you will need to do this on every computer you run this on, you can install the program to your flash drive to avoid this!
8.) Press F6 on boot then type “persistent” at the end of the boot string, that will make you settings save to your flash drive. You will need to do this on every boot to make sure that your settings are restored.
Thank you for reading and don’t forget to email me with your questions! (brian@wizzhack.co.uk)
