Hey Guys,

Well I have been back at college for 1 week now and already trying to find something to do during class, since our class is ‘paperless’ then all the students have laptops. I found a great tetris game to pass the time.

Its called Free Tetris 1.0, extremely small program but really nice to play.

There are different options you can choose from, there pretty self-explanatory. Controls are simple - Spacebar to send it right down, left and right arrow keys to move, up to change the angle and down to move down.

Are you bored or home or in class? This is sure to keep you amused!

Download it now!

Hey Guys,

I have many programs installed on my computer, its pretty hard for me to keep up-to-date on all the latest versions. Some programs might have a notifier built in, but most of them don’t. I found this really handy application called Update Notifier.

Really simple to install and such an easy-to-use interface. Heres a screenshot I took:

When you click the arrow on the right, it will direct you to the webpage where the update is available to download. Simple and nice. I’d recommend it to anyone. Check them out here; http://cleansofts.org/view/update-notifier.html.

Hey Guys,

I love having nice stylish wallpapers on my desktop and sometimes it hard to find one, or I might want to have a changing background that changes the image everything X amount of minutes. I found a great program that allows me to do that.

I can view great looking wallpapers and have then changing every X amount of minutes all from one program called Desktopia, when you first start the program you are allowed to choose from several different categories, then you choose the time it takes for your wallpaper to change e.g. every 10 minutes and click Okay!

The program is available for Mac and they have a beta version for Windows (which works fine on Vista), I would recommend this to anyway! Some wallpapers are just fantastic.

If ya download it, tell me what you think,

Hey Guys,

If you have a pretty good camera that takes huge photos then you will love this!

Whenever I am out with my camera, could be a party or just randomly and I want to upload photos to a social network it can be pretty hard as most of the photos are 5 - 6MB each, this is far to big for any social network, most only allow 2MB - 3MB. So I went on the look out for a free photo resizer and found a great one!

VSO Image Resizer is a freeware program that allows you to select as many photos as you want and change there size, this is great for the above reason, also its great for sending photos in a email or by instant messenger. The software is simple to use and anybody can work it. VSO Image Resizer works with Windows 2000, XP and Vista also its extremely fast!

Thanks,

Hey Guys,

Since its spring and I had a spare few hours I decided to spring clean my computer. I download at least one program a day, sometimes a lot more so I have to keep on top of things I use and I don’t use. The reason I download so many programs is because I like testing and trying new things. The internet is full of great freeware and I just cant get enough of it.

When I install software I tend to forget about it, and just clogs up my computer and can make it slower and not-as-powerful. I am going to take you guys through what I do. I really should do this sequence every week, or at least twice a month but time isn’t really on my side. Anyway heres the steps I take to making my computer faster/better/run smoother.

1. Uninstall Programs
As I said above I download a lot of programs, know if I just left all those programs on I would run out of space on my two hard-drives. I use a program called Revo Uninstaller, now this program is a lot better than the standard uninstaller that is found on most computers under the control panel. Revo Uninstaller scans your computer for all applications and games and will allows you to unistall them.

You simply select a program you don’t want anymore and click Uninstall, this will start the uninstall process, after the program has been uninstalled, Revo Uninstaller will look in your registry and look for folders that were not deleted in the uninstall process. If you use the Windows XP built in uninstaller, there is a high chance it will leave folders and registry entry’s on your computer, this can slow it down!

Once I have uninstalled all my programs that I do not use/need anymore I will look in MSCONFIG.

2. Managing Start-up Programs
I am a great fan of fast start up! This tip I am about to share has been posted all over the internet and its nothing new. Go to the start menu (or press the windows key) and click Run, then type msconfig:

Then press ok. This should show a box something like this:

Click the Startup tab and you will find all the items/programs that run on start-up. Now I have very little running on start-up, just basic things such as my sound card controller, anti-virus and thats it really. Nice and quick to load! I would recommend doing this as it can save a lot of loading time on start-up. After your have deselected the items you dont want, click Apply and restart your computer.
