Hay, to all you web developers out there… i will post a short HTML script every week that you might like to use on your website!

Week one: Friday 28th December 2007 at 9:20

This week its a bit of JavaScript to make snow fall over your website! Got this idea from Gizmondo forums (www.gizmondoforums.com) I’m a bit late on this one because it is suppose to be for Christmas but i thought it would be a shame not to post it!

If you want to host the JavaScript your self then download it HERE and replace the URL for your own!

Make shore you paste this code in you website header!!

HTML CODE

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.rock-mania.co.uk/snowstorm.js”></script>

I hope you enjoy this code!

Thanks,

Brian

Hey Guys,

Found this really simple but cool website. If you want to have a go at web design, and write your own HTML code, then this website is great for you! It gives you two boxes (resize-able), the blue box is where you write your code, it will automatically convert it into what the web-page will see.

Instead of writing your code in Notepad and refreshing the browser every time, this websites makes it simple. You can add images and see the preview of it below.

Check it out if you are interested in HTML coding,

Hey Guys,

If your not at your computer, and you want to make some changes to your website, but lack a FTP Program then dont worry, net2ftp is an online FTP Program, which works seamlessly. When you enter all the correct details, and connect, you get different options and shows you all your folders. You can; Download files, upload, create folders, download and move, cody etc.

Most schools/colleges/university’s prevent the use of FTP Programs on there network, so this is really handy if you need to update your website. net2ftp is fast and reliably.

There are a lot of people who want to make a website, but the layout is stopping them!

A few weeks ago I found this great website, called OSWD, you can find some really nice themes and layout for all websites, and best of all, there free!

Most of the time you have to keep the Created By on the design, but if you contact the Author, then he/she might allow you to remove that text. OSWD has over 2080 free designs to choose from, they offer a really good way to search through all the templates, you can choose from a range of different options, such as: Validation, Contrast, Images, Color, CSS and Columns, with many other options.

As I was reading through my daily blogs, I came across this awesome plugin for any Wordpress blog.

Its called Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin, this neat little plugin saves a lot of time upgrading a wordpress blog! Wordpress update there versions often to keep up with bugs etc, and its hard to find the time to back-up all the data, and upload it using a FTP software.

Automatic Upgrade does follows 8 simple steps:

1. Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
2. Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
3. Downloads the latest files from http://wordpress.org/latest.zip and unzips it.
4. Puts the site in maintenance mode.
5. De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.
6. Upgrades wordpress files.
7. Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.
8. Re-activates the plugins.

The plugin adds a new option under the Manage tab. Automatic Upgrade walks you through all the steps needed to upgrade wordpress!
