This game is insane! I really enjoyed playing it!
You guys might have read my post on AssaultCube, well this game is similar, but way more fun!
I used to love playing Quake 3 Arena on my Windows 98 computer, but I lost interest when I went over to use a iMac G5. Only recently I have had the urge to play Quake again, but couldn’t find the disc I used to have (I have a Windows XP Laptop), so as I was searching for a FPS (First Person Shooter) I came across OpenArena, which is free and available for Windows, Mac and Linux!
As I said above, the game is based on Quake 3, and its extremely similar! The levels, players and action is all the same (from what I can remember)!
The Gameplay!
When I found OpenArena, I couldn’t wait until it was finally downloaded, and ready to play! The download was slow, as my internet is not amazing, it took about 2 hours. When it had finally finished, I started to play. It was great, just how I remember Quake 3 - fast lively gaming. The graphics are also rendered well, and didn’t put me off the game, as I said in the AssualtCube review, I’m more into game fun, rather than Graphics, but OpenArena does not disappoint!
Online and Offline play!
I only managed to get offline play working for some reason, I haven’t really looked into it, but will when I have a bit more time! I presume Online play is very similar to offline, but instead of fighting against the computer, your going to be fighting against different players all over the world!As I said above, offline gaming is really fun, pawning the computer! You have different difficulty’s, which are good if you are a god at fast paced gaming, then you wont be upset with this game.
Cheating!
When I played Quake 3, you god use ‘God Mode’ and other cheats to make the game fun and more enjoyable, well I have yet to explore this feature and will post about it as soon as I get a chance.
Overall!
This game is insane, I would recommend OpenArena for anyone who wants to have some fun, its free and works on all major operating systems! I have yet to find a fault with the game, its just simple, but additive! When I find out how to play online, I will be addicted!Watch this blog for more posts on this topic!

i got open areana in ubuntu and i have to say (considering ive never played quake before) it was ok but is sooo easy in my oppion check out tremulous its alot more of a chalange
